Ferrell Center, 1900 S. University Parks Drive
Since 1902, Baylor University has introduced its new presidents in public ceremonies through which the Baylor Board of Regents officially installs the institution's leader. The University welcomes the Baylor Family, the Waco and Central Texas communities and distinguished guests from across the nation to the installation of Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D. as Baylor's 15th president.
Dr. Linda Livingstone was announced as president of Baylor University on April 18, 2017. She began her tenure on June 1. 2017. She named the mission of the University as one of the main reasons she decided to return to Baylor, where she invested eleven years as she began her academic career in 1991. She believes being a Christian institution provides an opportunity to develop a deeper foundation through a transformational student experience.
"It drives the decisions you make in the organization and informs the curriculum-the people you hire, the way you do business-in a way that is different than if you’re at a secular institution," Livingstone says. "There is a deeper way of thinking about the formation of student life. We're developing students intellectually, socially and physically, but we're also helping them grow and develop spiritually."
"My faith will inform the leadership team I put together and how we conduct ourselves. The way we interact will be grounded in Christian principles. We will encourage and support one another while working through difficult issues. It will be our faith and our values that drive forward the university," says Livingstone.
With a vision for the future and firm commitment to Baylor’s distinct mission: "to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community," Dr. Livingstone selected Romans 12:2 as the focal scripture for her installation:
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." ~Romans 12:2
The ceremony will be streamed live beginning at 3 p.m. central time on this site.
